Sebaceous Hyperplasia: Treatment Considering Recurrence

Addressing only the skin's surface may not lead to sufficient improvement.

Sebaceous hyperplasia refers to a skin condition characterized by the abnormal proliferation of sebaceous glands within the dermis layer of the skin.

Some conventional treatment methods focus solely on removing visible lesions on the surface with a laser.

While this approach may appear effective in the short term,

if the sebaceous gland tissue is not completely addressed, the possibility of regrowth cannot be ruled out.

We approach this matter from a different perspective.

We focus on improving the surface of the lesion while simultaneously managing the underlying root cause, thereby reducing the likelihood of recurrence.

Beyond simply improving visible symptoms,

we pursue an integrated approach that considers both the cause and symptoms of the lesion.

To achieve these goals, we utilize two treatment devices in combination.

1. Secret Agnes RF (Insulated Radiofrequency 1-pin Needle)

By directly delivering high-frequency energy to the area where sebaceous glands are located,

it can contribute to selectively damaging the sebaceous glands.

Using an insulated micro-needle, it minimizes damage to the epidermis or surrounding skin tissue,

and is designed to deliver energy specifically to the sebaceous glands.

This can play a crucial role in addressing the fundamental cause of the lesion.

2. Erbium YAG Laser (Er:YAG)

The Erbium YAG laser can be used to delicately improve lesions appearing on the skin's surface through precise depth control.

This can be utilized to precisely refine lesions that protrude from the skin.

It can reduce the burden on surrounding tissues, making the recovery process more comfortable, and contribute to minimizing the possibility of scarring.

If necessary, a CO2 laser can be used in conjunction to consider improving deeper lesions.

This is a different approach from treatment methods that merely remove the external appearance.

CO2 laser monotherapy primarily improves only the external appearance of the lesion, leaving the sebaceous gland itself intact, which may lead to recurrence.

Our combined treatment aims to help reduce the possibility of recurrence by regulating the sebaceous glands themselves while also refining superficial lesions.

Common Manifestations of Sebaceous Hyperplasia

Sebaceous Hyperplasia

There can be limitations to addressing only outwardly visible issues.

Managing both the visible lesions on the surface and the internal sebaceous glands together can be more helpful in reducing recurrence.

Are you experiencing any of the following symptoms?

Small, round bumps appearing mainly on the forehead, cheeks, and around the nose

A slightly indented center, resembling a navel

Sometimes resembling a pimple, but with no discharge when squeezed

Persisting over time without spontaneously disappearing, or a tendency for the number to gradually increase

These skin changes are different from simple acne or blemishes,

and may indicate *sebaceous hyperplasia*, a condition where sebaceous glands are abnormally proliferated.

Q&A

Q&A

고객님들이 가장 많이 물어보시는 내용을 모았습니다.

Will combining Agnes treatment be helpful?

QnA

Syringomas and sebaceous hyperplasia are closely related to the overgrowth of sebaceous glands. Agnes treatment directly targets sebaceous glands, so combining it can have a positive effect in suppressing lesion recurrence.

How long is the recovery period after the procedure?

QnA

To protect the treated area, it is recommended to apply regenerative tape for at least 2 weeks. However, the duration of tape application may vary slightly depending on the patient's skin regeneration ability.

What about pain during the procedure?

QnA

The degree of pain felt can vary from person to person. We strive to minimize patient discomfort by applying anesthetic cream for a sufficient amount of time before the procedure.
